Also is the safety in front of the trigger, or on the tang behind the reciever? I believe it's pretty stout, but I just stuck with low pressure loads. A sample Stevens for comparison - Mine is also a Ranger, but has no markings other than S/N and bore. One caution - it can slam-fire, as disconnects weren't common at the time it was designed. And I found a vintage Brauer Bros./Moose Brand Take-Down Shotgun Case that is perfect for the Stevens Model 520. I might have been the first person since the Hoover Admin. I have also seen another one (also MW) from around 1925 that shows the double hump version.Other than that, it's a very solid piece that can break down into a convenient package as well. I believe Canfield wrote that the gun was presented to the military for acceptance in trench format-they liked it, but it was too late for WWI. I have a MW version in 12 ga with the original 32" full choke tube and have also sourced and fitted another front end, which I chopped to 20".Our precision cnc machined centrifuge bowls are machined from solid billets of aluminum for good chemical resistance and strength. Barack Obama, April 26, 2014WEAPONRY: There was even streamlined and "modernized" variant, the essentially "hump-less" Model 620, which came out in the middle/late 1930s, but they still seemed to make 520s up into the late 1940s. Wish there was more info on Stevens Shotguns like there is on other firearms. Overall, I think it is in decent shape, worn bluing but mechanically sound. For all I can tell, they even made the single hump 520As (AKA 520-30s) alongside the other two variants during the Second World War.
I know its not too valuable with the normal wear of an old gun so I figured around 150 or -? Is there no record of serial numbers for this line of guns?
The guy I bought it from had never fired it and the previous owner before him hadn't in 25 yrs, so its been sitting for around 35-40yrs without being touched. I've been searching the internet and haven't been able to come up with anything.
